we got a curious george story collection for finn for his birthday. i had originally intended for this book to be an "only before naptime or bedtime" special treat. but he likes it so much, i let him read it whenever. it is so funny to hear him reading stories to himself. this entire book is composed of two, two year old words. "monkey. hat." monkey, of course, refers to curious george. hat refers to his friends, also known as the man in the yellow hat. and those are the only two words he uses - for the entire book. so he'll be sitting in his room, and i'll hear, "monkey. hat. monkey. hat. monkey. hat. monkey. hat." over and over and over.
he also has this thomas the train book (which i have read so many times, i am slightly tempted to burn it...) which he reads to himself probably 30 times a day. he knows about three words per page, such as "chug chug chug," "poor thomas," "screech, bertie bus," hooray thomas." and he reads it with expression, which is what really makes me laugh. i'll try to get a video.
anyway, i love that finn loves books, and that he attempts to read them to the best of his ability, pretty much by memory.

That's how they learn. My sister knew how to read going into kindergarten (one book), mostly because she had had her brother read it to her so many times she knew the story by heart. Wait till he starts to recognize letters (like F since his names starts with F) - its fun.
Yeah lady get on that video because it is way more fun than all the other things you have to get done! PLUS, i really want to see Finn in all his cuteness.
I remember Caitlyn reading her first book (by memory!)...think we have it on tape somewhere! She was around 2, I think. It's pretty cute! Even though it gets tiring repeating everything, I love watching them memorize/learn!
he actually recognizes about every letter in the alphabet! a professional boardgamer in the making.
We want a video!!! These are some of our favorite family moments...the girls "reading" a book that I'm sick of reading to them and/or them making up random stories, with or without a book with pictures to base it off of. They are priceless! Maddie's favorite books to "read" are "We're Going on a Bear Hunt" or "Caps for Sale"...both are soo repetitive that she's got them mostly memorized and "reads" them with great emotion and lots of hand gestures. I can picture it now....we tried to video tape her but it was too dark to see it, so we need to give it another try. Miss you guys!
